Using this site

bbqhop.com is a free directory of American barbecue joints and a road-trip planner. There are no accounts and nothing to buy. By using the site you agree to these terms; if you do not, please do not use it.

Accuracy — please read this one

Listings are compiled from public sources and editorial research. Barbecue is a business of irregular hours, and the details most worth knowing are the ones most likely to be wrong: opening hours, sellout times, prices, and whether a place is still open at all. Joints close, move, sell out early, shut for a pitmaster’s vacation, or stop serving on a Tuesday for no announced reason.

Treat everything here as a starting point, not a guarantee. Call ahead before you drive. We make no warranty that any listing is accurate, current, or complete, and we are not liable for a wasted trip.

Routes and driving

Routes, distances, drive times, and arrival estimates come from third-party routing services and are approximations. They do not account for traffic, closures, weather, or road conditions. They are not turn-by-turn navigation. You are responsible for driving safely and obeying the law — do not operate the planner while driving.

Editorial independence

Ratings and write-ups are our own opinion. Some outbound links may earn us a commission (see the Privacy Policy), but no business can pay to be listed, to rank higher, or to change what we write. Joints do not know they are being assessed.

Submissions

When you send us a joint or crawl suggestion, you confirm it is yours to share and grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, edit, and publish it as part of the directory. We are not obliged to publish anything, and we may edit for accuracy and length. Do not submit anything confidential, defamatory, or that infringes someone else’s rights.

Acceptable use

Do not scrape the site in bulk, attempt to break or overload it, submit spam or automated form posts, or republish the directory wholesale. Linking to us, quoting us with attribution, and normal personal use are all welcome.

Content and attribution

Our editorial writing, design, and photography are ours. Business facts — names, addresses, phone numbers — are not copyrightable and we claim no ownership of them.

Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence. Routing is provided by Project OSRM. Trademarks and business names belong to their owners and appear here for identification only.

We link out to restaurant websites, maps, and other services we do not control and are not responsible for.

The site is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, and may be unavailable or contain errors at any time.
