Driftwood BBQ

I will be honest I didn’t have an expectation because 4.8 is pretty high for a barbecue joint. Today I parked in the overflow parking, which is to the left to the back of this restaurant because there’s only like three spaces in the front. I got the two meat plate and I gave it four stars for these reasons. The shells and cheese seemed very bland, but luckily I got the Charro beans and I put the juice inside the shells and cheese which spiced it up. The next part is hard for me because I’m a barbecue cooker journeyman. I’m not expecting fall off the bone pork spare ribs but I’m not also expecting chewy ribs. The flavor was there outside texture was there, but that first bite feeling was not there. The bosses were involved with an in-depth conversation with an older couple and I did not want to interrupt. I will go be going back there because the brisket was the showstopper if you look at other reviews, it seems that I’m on the same track as everybody else. I don’t know why they put jalapeños on the plate maybe to put in my shells and cheese who knows 🤷🏽‍♂️. I also came at the 1:30 PM maybe that was the reason. Man the Brisket was good!!

We got 2 brisket & eggs tacos(get a little hot sauce to boost the flavor) along with 1/2 lb briskets that we were able to cut without anchoring down with a fork! Soooooo freaking tender and juicy and just glistening in fat! One of the owners had came out and gave us some burn end samples and OMG they were super flavorful and tasty! Will take my family here next time! Update 9/26! Went back for more amazing dishes! One of the owners, Chris, had came out personally and talked to us! Very nice and hardworking man. Showed us a picture of their special Brisket Burger and we HAD to try it and it was sooooo freaking good! Presentation was clean and well thought out! Meat was glistening with fat and the patty was very crispy at the edge and juicy in the center! We also had their 2 meat plate and my gosh it was soooo good! Elotes was creamy and with a hint of lime! Smoked green beans was very smoky but the bacon was a little soggy and can definitely see it was infused during the smoking process. Maybe add some crumbled bacon at the top for some crunch and crispiness! Sausage was crispy at the edges and juicy inside. Ribs are absolutely spot on with the glaze, tenderness, and FALL OFF THE BONE! Absolutely a 10 out 10!

Tea and I stopped in on a Friday about 4pm. We shared a three meat plate, Brisket, Sausage and Chicken. The deckle was fairly dry, the sausage was a large grind but fairly pedestrian. The chicken quarter was not what I'd describe as succulent. Sides: mac&cheese plain but good, bbq beans are a mix of pinto and red; there have a nice sweetness. The Elote was really nice, I recommend it. Black Pepper is heavily used, like real heavy. Maybe the dryish meat was due to the late hour. The staff was great, nice very accommodating.
