Been wanting to try this place for a while ever since they changed from Martiny’s barbecue. I thought Martiny’s was OK but had really great mac & cheese. I really didn’t like going there however because the guy who ran the place was super unfriendly and had horrible customer service. That’s totally different than what I experience walking in the crossroads yesterday. First, let’s talk about the food. Unfortunately, when I went in at 7:30 they were totally out of brisket and burnt ends. It’s OK, I get it, when you run a barbecue restaurant those are the things that can happen. I asked him what was best to order based on what was left and he mentioned the ribs. I honestly had read the reviews and had read a number of reviews that saying the ribs were dry or not great. I asked him about that and he said that he struggled with those reviews as well as he had some really great reviews on the ribs and then had some that were not so great. He offered to show me what they look like before I bought them and when he unwrapped them, I decided to go ahead and order a rack. I think the biggest difference between these ribs and other barbecue restaurant ribs is that they use spare ribs. Spare ribs typically have a larger bone and have more meat on one side of the rack then the other. I think that’s why people think they don’t have as much meat because invariably this is true just by nature of the rib when it gets to the end of the rack. From a flavor perspective, I got mine with a dry rub seasoning and then apple butter barbecue sauce on the side. The barbecue sauce tasted great although it did come out of the refrigerator so it was cold. I prefer my barbecue sauce bedroom temperature, but that’s no big deal and it’s nothing in microwave can’t fix. Might take on the ribs were that they were very tasty, especially with that dry rub, order it like that and you’ll really enjoy them. I will say, however, that since they are using spare ribs, and there is less meat at the bottom of the rib rack that the last several pieces were kind of dried out. I think this is where someone else might have only gotten a few bones and gotten the bottom part of the rack and thought they were too dried out. I think they need to either consider moving to a St. Louis style rib or consider wrapping their ribs in a way that it protects the bottom part of the rack so it doesn’t dry out as bad. I got an order of wings which are smoked, but not fried. Again I got the dry rub with apple butter barbecue on the side and I’m telling you that the dry rub really made the flavor for me however, I did feel like the wings were a little bit on the Dreyer side. Lastly, and I saved the best for last, I ordered a Mac Cheese with a little bit of pork on it for my side and I will say that this is what I’m going to be coming back for in the future. Simply put, the mac & cheese was the star of the show. Super super cheesy and tasted amazing. I’m sure it’s not low in calories as there is so much stuff in this mac & cheese to make it taste so good and the pictures don’t do it justice. Just trust me, go there in order a Mac bowl for yourself and tell me why you wouldn’t just love it! They really hit the mark with that one.

Since moving back from North Carolina, I've been looking for a good bbq place and I finally found it. This place has the best burnt ends and pulled pork. Their mustard bbq was better then I've ever had even in North Carolina. If you haven't tried this place your missing out. Don't let the size of this place fool you....you need to stop.
