This was my 1st visit. I ordered in person at the restaurant. The people were friendly. I was there to try the rib tips, ribs, and turkey tips. They were out of all tips. I arrived a little after 8 and they close at 10. I ordered a ½ slab of ribs ($15)and a chopped steak sandwich ($9.50) for my wife instead. The chopped steak was satisfactory. Tne ribs were a little tough. I don't mind ribs with a little bite but these were genuinely tough. The ribs (6 ribs) were served mostly seperated but not completely cut through and I still needed a knife to separate them.The flavor wasn't very smokey at all. It's obvious that the ribs weren't cooked long enough to break down the collagen in the meat and the back membrane wasn't removed or else the meat would have been tender. The mild bbq sauce was very, very sweet. Also could have added more fries with the order. I'm not inspired to go back to try the pork or turkey tips. I hope this review helps Brown's and Family BBQ get better.

Brown's & Family BBQ & Soul is located on the southwest side of Chi-town on 87th Street. This restaurant is for take-out only. My mother was desiring some Turkey Tips and she was told this restaurant had the best in the city of Chicago. Who ever told my mother that DID NOT LIE! I've eaten turkey tips from a few barbeque spots around the city __ this indeed has been the best. The taste and texture is on point. Excuse me for not taking and posting a picture of the dish before I started eating it. I was actually half way in when I realized I did not capture the entire meal. They give a Lot for the price. If you like Turkey Tips you will not be disappointed. What I really noticed and loved was it's ALL MEAT and no fat or gristle (at least mine was). My turkey tips came with fries. I will eat there again.
